MUMBAI, APRIL 4: Powerlinks Transmission, a joint venture of PowerGrid Corporation and Tata Power Company (TPC), on Tuesday announced the completion of the Bareilly-Mandola portion of the 1,200 km 400 KV transmission lines from Tala hydro project (Bhutan) to Delhi region, three months ahead of its scheduled completion in June this year.
With the completion of this line a parallel 400 KV corridor would be available from Unnao/Kanpur/Lucknow area to Delhi resulting in strengthening of east-north corridor and improving system strengthening. Powerlinks release said that the line would carry about 400 MW which would lead to reduction in loading on other existing lines in this corridor.

Chairman and managing director of PowerGrid Corporation RR Singh said that the Tala transmission system would form a very important element of the National Transmission Grid. Director of TPC Adi Engineer said the pact between the two firms marks a successful trend and offers hope for more such joint initiatives in the power sector.
